Panel show to pitch old comics vs new

Comedians spanning three generations will compete in a new panel show being developed by ITV.

Battle Of The Ages pitches three teams – the Young Guns, the Middle Ages and the Golden Oldies – across a series of stand-up challenges and typical panel-show games.

Taking part in a run-through next month are Tom O'Connor, Roy Walker, Hal Cruttenden, Roisin Conaty and Rob Beckett – and the show will be hosted by Capital Radio DJ Dave Berry.

The show has a near-identical format to the Australian panel show Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation and Radio 4's Act Your Age. Indeed Tom O'Connor was a regular on the oldies team for the radio show, too.

The Australian version, which returns for a fourth series on Friday hosted by Shaun Micallef, is recorded in Melbourne – but made by Britain’s ITV Studios.

The run-through will take place in Central London on February 7. See our free tickets page to be in the audience.

The recordings will come a week after ITV tries out its improvised talk show Chat Show Roulette – suggesting the broadcaster is keen to expand its comedy output.
