We Hart Miranda

Sitcom named 'comedy of the year'

Miranda has been named ‘comedy of the year’ for 2012.

Ms Hart's self-titled sitcom topped the poll of readers of the comedy.co.uk website, who also crowned it ‘most popular returning sitcom’.

Miranda has proved a ratings-winner for BBC One, with the last episode topping seven million viewers.

However, the channel’s other sitcom hit, Mrs Brown’s Boys, is more divisive. The site’s readers voted it both second most popular returning sitcom – and the worst.

In other categories, Jason Cook’s Hebburn was named best new sitcom, with other gongs for QI, Horrible Histories, The Graham Norton Show and Cold Meat.
