We have lift-off!

Third series for Helen Keen's It Is Rocket Science

Radio 4 has commissioned a third series of Helen Keen’s comedy science show It Is Rocket Science!

Another four episodes have been ordered, which are set to be recorded this summer ready for broadcast in the autumn.

As before, the show – which also stars Peter Serafinowicz and Susy Kane – will take a quirky look at the science and history of space travel.

It is based on Keen’s first ever Edinburgh Fringe show, from back in 2008. The first series aired in spring 2011, and the second in the summer of last year. Like both of those, the new episodes will be broadcast in an 11pm slot.

The series is produced in-house for BBC comedy by Gareth Edwards.

Here’s a clip from the last series, discussing the drawbacks of a nuclear-powered space programme.
