It's Seann's show

Walsh lands his own Comedy Central slot

Seann Walsh is to front his own series on Comedy Central.

The broadcaster has ordered 13 episodes of Seann Walsh World, which mixes stand-up and viral clips as he talks about his life as a young, single comedian.

It means Walsh will increasingly become the face of the channel, as he already landed a role in Comedy Central’s forthcoming sitcom Big Bad World, alongside Inbetweeners actor Blake Harrison.

The channel, part of media giant Viacom, says it hopes to eventually sell the format to other stations in its global network.

‘Seann Walsh is perfect as the face of Comedy Central.' said managing director Jill Offman. 'We obviously can’t get enough of him and we’re not the only ones’

Director of content Sarah Farrell added: 'I’m really excited about this – Seann is so perfectly right for Comedy Central; funny, charming, a little bit different and with that underlying air of unpredictability.'

The show will be recorded from next month and air in the spring.

It will be made by Open Mike Productions, the sister company of Off The Kerb, Walsh’s agent. It already makes a string of stand-up shows including Live At The Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Stand Up For The Week.
