Another plaque for Eric & Ern

Honour at Teddington Studios

A blue plaque commemmorating Morecambe and Wise is to be erected at the studios where they made some of their most memorable programmes.

The Heritage Foundation will unveil the tribute to Eric and Ernie at Teddington Studios in Middlesex on April 21.

It is the latest in a string of memorials to great comedians the charity has put up at the site, beginning with one to Tommy Cooper unveiled by Sir Norman Wisdom in 1996.

Morecambe is already honoured with a solo plaque at the site, while others commemorate the likes of Tony Hancock, Benny Hill, Sid James and Kenny Everett.

There is also a plaque to Morecambe at his former home in Finchley, North London, and at BBC Television Centre in West London, where he is honoured alongside Wise.

The duo recorded their last four series for Thames at Teddington Studios.

Heritage Foundation chiefs also plan a plaque to Dad's Army and 'Allo 'Allo co-writer David Croft later this year, but have not yet revealed the location.
