Peter Kay to spoof Secret Millionaire

Plans for new Channel 4 show revealed

Peter Kay is working on a new Channel 4 comedy show, spoofing the Secret Millionaire.

The comic says he wants to rest from stand-up for a few years following his mammoth Tour That Doesn’t Tour, and return to character comedy on TV.

In the new show, the 39-year-old will play the Irish owner of a coach company who goes to work among his staff.

Speaking to Steve Wright on his Radio 2 show, Kay said: ‘I’ve been so lucky to be able to do Geraldine and Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy, I’ll go back and write something new for television.

‘I’m already doing something on Channel 4 next year. It’s like a spoof of Secret Millionaire.

‘I’m playing an old Irish guy, from Limerick, who runs a coach company, so it’s nice to be able to put the stand-up away and put a wig on and some false teeth and be somebody else for a while and do that for a few years.’
