The new Team GB

Comics line up for patriotic new panel show

New dad David Walliams is to host a new primetime panel show, based on knowledge of Great Britain.

He will be joined by team captains Frank Skinner and Micky Flanagan in I Love My Country, which has been earmarked for a Saturday-night slot on BBC One.

Alan Tyler, the BBC’s executive editor of entertainment commissioning, called the show ‘a funny, boisterous and shamelessly competitive celebration of the UK’.

Eight 50-minute long shows have been ordered, following the success of a pilot made earlier this year. In that, Greg Davies was a team captain, but he could not commit to the series because of other work, including writing his Channel 4 sitcom Man Down.

The show – which also features a house band fronted by Jamelia – will air early next year.

The studio audience will also be divided into two teams who will cheerlead Frank and Micky’s teams. See our Free Tickets page to be among them.
