Sharing the love

Sky orders six romantic comedy films

Sky Living has commissioned a series of six romantic comedy featuring the talents of Katherine Parkinson, Ist Suttie and Sarah Solomani.

The half-hour films will air next year in a strand called Love Matters and come as part of the channel’s drive to create original comedy, which began with their parent-based sitcom Gates.

The new films ordered by Sky’s head of comedy are:

Aphrodite Fry: Written by Him & Hers star Sarah Solomani, about a Brighton-based mural artist who is spurned by a lacklustre one-night stand.

Kitten Chic: Written by Daran Little, who won a Bafta for his one-off drama The Road to Coronation Stree, this revolves around the large, confident but perpetually single, 17-year-old Kitten who is determined to snag the man of her dreams.

30 And Counting: The first show rom Bwark Productions since they created The Inbetweeners. Written by newcomers Chris Little and Tom Vinnicombe, this romantic comedy is all about the quest for the perfect woman.

Miss Wright: Written by Isy Suttie and Fergus March, a will-they-won’t-they comedy peppered with original songs performed by Suttie.

A Nice Arrangement: Written by Sanjeev Kohli, who played Navid Harrid in Still Game and starred in and co-wrote the radio sitcom Fags, Mags and Bags. It is about a white girl in a relationship with a British Sikh man.

Officially Special: Which stars the IT Crowd’s Katherine Parkinson as World Record Official Jo Pepper who presides over some of the most bizarre and banal record attempts while juggling her personal life.

Antonia Hurford-Jones, the director of Sky Living said: ‘Written and starring some of the best of British talent, they will show our customers Living’s appetite and ambition for brilliantly funny and confident original, scripted content on the channel.’

Lumsden added: ‘This season of one-off films about love have allowed us to deliver a wide range of original comic voices and fresh tones... We are delighted with the results and think that they will strike a chord with our customers.’
