For of the world's biggest comedy tours

Michael McIntyre is up for an award for having one of the most successful comedy tours in the world.

He has been nominated in the comedy section of this year’s Billboard Touring Awards alongside Flight Of The Conchords and American ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, last year’s winner.

The awards, run by America’s music industry magazine, recognise ‘box office success and industry achievement’ in the last 12 months,

Nominated in other categories are the likes of Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and Coldplay.

On his 2012 Showtime tour, McIntyre played 71 arena dates to more than 700,000 people, including ten nights at the O2 Arena – an achievement at the London venue only surpassed by Peter Kay.

The O2 has also been shortlisted for best arena, alongside Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena and the Staples Center, Los Angeles.

McIntyre will learn if he has scooped the award at a ceremony in New York later this week. The Showtime DVD is out next Monday. Click here to pre-order.
