Rev heads for the States

Another Britcom remade

Rev has become the latest in a very long line of British sitcoms being remade for the American market.

The ABC network has put its version of the ecclesiastical sitcom into development, with a script being written by Bob Daily, the former Desperate Housewives showrunner who also spent five years working on Frasier.

The American version will involve a priest coming from a small rural parish in Wisconsin to take over a failing inner-city church in a poor Chicago neighbourhood, Hollywood website Deadline reports. The congregation will include ‘genuine believers, a homeless man, and a crack addict’.

Rev star Tom Hollander will be a consultant on the US show along with James Wood, with whom he created the British original.

Kenton Allen and Matthew Justice, from Britain’s Big Talk Productions, will be executive producers on the remake, too.
