John Bishop treated for exhaustion

...but he's OK now

John Bishop has been treated for exhaustion and a lost voice on the eve of his new tour.

He was treated after a warm-up gig in Plymouth on Wednesday – and cancelled a run of press interviews and even a TV appearance that would have helped plug his Rollercoaster Tour.

A press representative originally told WalesOnline that he had been treated in hospital – but both his publicist told Chortle that was not true, and said that statement hadn’t come from her.

The publicist added that he is now ‘absolutely fine and excited about his gig this evening’ in Cardiff.

Bishop, 45, tweeted: ‘The voice (mine not the show!) saw specialist and it's all cool. Got to be careful but will be fine for the tour! Excited bring it on!’

He will spend five nights in the Welsh capital at the start of a tour which will covers more than 40 dates. His last tour played to 400,000 people.

Bishop is no stranger to physical and mental exertion. In 2012 he completed a 290-mile triathlon from Paris to London in five days for Sport Relief.
