First 2013 Fringe show announced

It's Jason Manford, in a major new tour

This year’s Edinburgh Fringe might only just be over – but the first show for the 2013 event has just been confirmed, as Jason Manford announces festival dates as part of a major tour.

Manford will play six dates at the EICC next August as part of the 113-night tour called First World Problems.

The gigs kick off in Huddersfield in June next year, and run through to a hometown gig in Manchester Arena in early December. Other than the final night, Manford is playing large theatres rather than arenas.

Since his last tour, Manford won the Born To Shine talent show with his singing abilities, and went on to join Alfie Boe on tour, before a run in Sweeney Todd alongside Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton.

Manford said: ‘Some of you might think I’ve had a career change what with all the opera and musical theatre I’ve been doing lately. Not a chance, I’m excited to be getting back to what I really love the most – stand-up.’

Tickets for the 2013 tour go on sale on September 21. Click here for dates.
