Opening Gates to America

Sky series gets US makeover

Gates, the new Sky Living sitcom starring Joanna Page, could be the next British comedy to get an American remake.

The NBC network has ordered a pilot from writers Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith. Like the original, it will concern the relationships between parents who meet at the school gates every day – but have little else in common.

The series, whose first episode was script-edited by Jennifer Saunders, launched on Sky two weeks ago. It also stars Tom Ellis, Sue Johnston, Tony Gardner, Nick Mohammed, Ella Kenion and William Andrews. It is team-written, by a group that includes Andrew Collins and stand-up Ava Vidal.

Laurence Bowen and Philip Clark, whose production company Feelgood Fiction made the original, will be executive producers on the remake.
