Marcel Lucont wins £5,000 Edinburgh prize

Marcel Lucont, the French alter-ego of stand-up Alexis Dubus has won the £5,000 Amused Moose Laughter Award at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The prize goes to the best comedy show at the festival without a commercial DVD deal and is decided by a combination of industry and audience votes from among all those that enter.

Alistair Barrie and Laurence Clark were named runners-up.

In the separate Amused Moose Laugh Off for new acts, the £1,500 first prize was shared by stand-ups Richard Todd and Funmbi.

It is only the second year of the Laughter Award, which is sponsored by DVD label 2entertain. In 2011, it was won by Tony Law.
