Russell Brand has been given a second series of his US stand-up show Brand X.

The comic said the next batch of seven episodes – due to air from October – will be a more conventional late-night format, with chat-show-style guests.

In one episode of the first series, the audience was packed with porn stars, and Brand invited one backstage to give a drunken student oral sex – before having second thoughts.

His first series, which is shown on Sky Atlantic in the UK, ends its run o America’s FX channel in the US this Thursday.

Channel president John Landgraf said: ‘Russell Brand is an extraordinary comedic talent - inventive, ambitious and fearless - and we are thrilled to continue our association with him.
