New channel for New Girl

US sitcom bumped to E4

Channel 4 is bumping its imported sitcom New Girl on to E4.

The sitcom - which stars Zooey Deschanel as a newly single girl who moves in with three male housemates – originally aired at 8.30pm on a Friday.

But in March the series was pulled just 11 episodes into its 24-part run, sparking rumours about its place in the schedule.

Now the broadcaster has confirmed the rest of the series will run on digital channel E4 later from this month.

E4’s official Twitter account boasted: ‘*NEW GIRL COMING TO E4 KLAXON* Driving moccasins at the ready as Jess and the guys will be moving in on E4 later this month.’

The series pulled in a mediocre 1.4million viewers for its timeslot, but has been a big hit on demand, with up to 3.3million downloads a month.

American broadcaster Fox has also committed to a second season of the show.
