Fred takes a hike

MacAulay walks the West Highland Way for charity

First it was Eddie Izzard and his marathons, then John Bishop and his Paris to London triathalon. Now Fred MacAulay is to walk the West Highland Way for charity.

The comic will embark on the 96-mile walk on July 16, taking six days. And after each day’s trek he will put on a comedy show for the locals.

Each day he will also be joined by celebrity companions, including Rory Bremner, Clare Grogan and Hue & Cry’s Pat and Greg Kane.

MacAulay, 55, will be raising funds for the STV Appeal, which is benefiting one in four Scottish children who live in poverty.

On his JustGiving page, he wrote that the walk had been on his ‘to-do’ list for a while, adding: ‘This is all for a fantastic cause, and any cash raised will help so many children affected by poverty in Scotland.’
