Sky picks up Ronna & Beverly

Full series for comedy chat show

Sky Atlantic has commissioned a comedy chat show from American Jewish matriarchs Ronna & Beverly.

The commission of six-hour long episodes follows a successful pilot last month – as well as live stints at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Soho Theatre.

The cult fiftysomething characters are the creations of American comedians Jessica Chaffin and Jamie Denbo, and have been described as described as a cross between Dr Ruth and Mrs Merton. On stage, the pair have previously interviewed the likes of Matthew Perry, Russell Brand and Matt Lucas.

The new shows, which will air this summer, will be made by Have I Got News For You producers Hat Trick and the American company Classy Productions, which is run by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig.

He said: ‘Ronna & Beverly is all part of my evil plan to export more funny women to the world.’
