BBC gets behind alien invasion

Corporation pilots sci-fi comedy

The BBC is piloting a new sci-fi comedy, based on Earth being invaded by an incompetent group of aliens.

V Sign has been written by Steve Turner, whose main credit to date is the children's TV series Tracy Beaker Returns... although he has also worked on Jedwards' Big Adventure.

The pilot is being shot in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, this month after being commissioned by the BBC.

Stephen Stewart of producer Green Inc, told trade magazine Broadcast: 'Steve Turner's script and the world he has created, excited us the first time we read it.

And Jon Rolph of co-producers Retort admitted: 'A global alien invasion isn't usually the best way to start a collaboration...'
