Partying with the Russian billionaire

WTF: Weekly Trivia File

  • When I was really little I wanted to be a stripper,’ Sarah Millican.

  • Alan Carr has been partying at exclusive London nightclub The Box alongside A-list guests like Kate Moss and Jude Law. The occasion was a Russian billionaire’s birthday party, but Carr said: ‘Don’t ask me her name because I have no idea – I had to hazard a guess when we were singing Happy Birthday to her, “Happy birthday to….er…..Olga…….happy birthday to you!”’

  • Bill Bailey has been reunited with his lost dog Teddi, a Bali Dingo rescued from Bali, after the pooch escaped from his home in Hammersmith. The pet got almost four miles across London, before being found by a member of the public in Chelsea. He was taken to Battersea Dog’s home, who read the microchip Bailey had put under the animals’s skin. He said: ‘I can’t express enough how grateful we are to Battersea for reuniting us with Teddi. Our other rescue dogs, who are also from Bali, were lost without him – we all were. When Teddi went missing we put posters up everywhere, contacted Battersea’s Lost Dogs & Cats Line and I even tweeted about it. But thanks to the microchip Battersea were able to get in touch and tell us they had Teddi – every dog owner out there should get it done.’

  • Want to see a drunk granny interrupt a comedy night?

  • Rob Brydon has revealed that the unusual spelling of Keith Barret’s surname came about entirely by accident. In one scene in Marion and Geoff, he is on the phone to Orange and had to spell out his name for security reasons. Brydon made a mistake, but the spelling had to stick.

  • Ricky Gervais’s new Channel 4 comedy, set in an old folks’ home, might end up being called The Home.

  • Want to get ahead in comedy? Wear a dark suit, unbuttoned shirt and – if you possibly can – put your hand in your pocket. Look at this collection of comics, all, from the Off The Kerb agency and their not-so diverse looks (and thanks to the Facebooker, who we can’t now trace, who prompted this by pointing out the similarity of a couple of 2012 tour umages).

  • Visages rouge at Ici Londres, a magazine for French expats, who got in touch with the agent of Marcel Lucont – the spoof character created by comedian Alexis Dubus – about an interview. All was going well until the journalist said it was for a feature about French people living in London – and the agent had to come clean. ‘I didn't know it at all,’ she had to admit. ‘Everything in the book  looked properly done by a French’.

  • Adam Ant Odd headline in this story about Adam Ant criticising Russell Brand. Did someone just do a search and replace ‘Ant’ with ‘Adam Ant’ do you suppose?

  • Our favourite DVD review so far this season, The Humor Blog on Mark Watson’s stand-up release: ‘It could have perhaps done with being broken up in the middle though, as it is just pure talking.’

  • Great minds? Compare these clips from the Fast Show last week, just over a minute in... and Anna Crilly on the now-cancelled Sorry I’ve Got No Head three years ago...

  • Tweets of the week
Peter Serafinowicz (@serafinowicz): So sad to hear the news about Jeremy Clarkson. He's still alive.
John O’Farrell (@mrjohnofarrell): Just to be clear everyone; camping outside church and day off work for Royal wedding = Good. Doing same in economic protest = Bad
James Cook (@jamesecook ): Saw a sign outside a place of worship which said 'CH_ _CH: What's missing?'. I think the answer is 'EECH AND ONG'. Where's my marker pen?
