Peter Kay is making more than £7million a year from stand-up, according to his official accounts.

Documents filed last month show that his company, Nakatomi Logistics, took £7.2million up to March this year.

Kay is the only director of the company, which says its principal activity is ‘the management and production of stand-up comedy performances.’

What’s more, the period does not cover the past seven months, when his lucrative Tour That Doesn’t Tour tour has continued to play arenas up and down the country. Plus his DVD of that tour, which was released last Monday, is likely to be a bestseller, further swelling his fortune.

The accounts say: ‘Further live performances are scheduled for the forthcoming year, which are also expected to generate significant levels of income and profit.’

After paying tax, Nakatomi Logistics will have more than £5million in the bank. Meanwhile, his other company Good Night Vienna Productions – the company behind his TV and DVD work – is sitting on £8.5million.

In an interview with the Sunday Express today, which did not mention the size of his wealth, Kay said: ‘I’ve never been led by money.

‘If I had been doing things for the money, I’d have done five tours by now. I didn’t tour for seven years because I wanted to wait until the children were older.

‘Money is great but you’ve got to be happy. I’ve been tempted but if you do things just for the money you run the risk of not being proud of what you’ve done.’

But fans have criticised Kay – or his DVD distributors – for re-releasing the same material on repackaged discs such as Stand Up U-Kay or Special Kay while he has been away from touring.

As well as being Kay’s company, Nakatomi was the fictional company in the Die Hard movies.
