Channel 4 orders more Fresh Meat

Second series for next year

Channel 4 has ordered a second series of student comedy drama Fresh Meat, even though the initial eight episodes have not yet finished airing.

Written by Peep Show creators Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, the show’s ensemble cast includes stand-up Jack Whitehall and Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas.

The second run is expected to air late next year.

Fresh Meat attracted 1.7million viewers to the first airing of its initial episode last month, beating both Big Brother and Never Mind The Buzzcocks in the ratings.

The broadcaster has also recommissioned E4 comedy drama Beaver Falls, about Brits working at a US summer camp, which will return next summer.

Channel 4 head of drama, Camilla Campbell said: ‘I am delighted that our strong series output has been recognised with a double recommission.’
