Coogan's next movie? A £1,000 student horror

Steve helps teenager's dream

Steve Coogan has agreed to make a cameo appearance … in a teenager’s low-budget movie

A-level student Liam Hooper, 17, was amazed when the comic agreed to be in his horror film Darkwood Manor, which cost just £1,000 to make.

Hooper, who lives in Coogan’s home town of Brighton said: ‘I have always been a huge fan of Steve's work so, thinking I had nothing to lose, I decided to try and contact him.

He told the Brighton Argus: ‘I was absolutely amazed when he said yes and although it was hard to find a time in his busy schedule to work on the cameo, we managed it.

‘His involvement brings a real wow factor to the movie and it has been an incredible opportunity to work with one of my idols.’

Darkwood Manor’s story involves a group of school pupils looking after a haunted house for a £50,000 reward – but one by one they start to disappear.

Liam, said he didn’t want to give away too much about Coogan’s role adding: ‘All I can say is he appears at a pivotal moment.’

Coogan has promised to try to attend the film's premiere at the Duke of York's Picture House in Brighton on September 10.
