Another festive special in the works

The Royle Family is returning for another Christmas special co-writer Craig Cash has revealed.

He said he would reunite with Caroline Aherne once he has finished work on his Sky 1 comedy The Café to work on the script.

He said: ‘Yeah, we will be doing another one at Christmas.

‘Caroline and I will get together when I finish editing this in the next few weeks and we will decide what we are going to write about. The characters still have a lot of mileage in them.’

Last year’s festive episode attracted 9.9 million viewers, making it the fourth most-watched show on Christmas Day. It featured Ralf Little’s character Antony proposing to girlfriend Saskia, opening the door to the possibility that the next episode could feature their wedding.
