Work about to restart on The Thick Of It
Work on the new series of The Thick Of It is to start next week, creator Armando Iannucci has revealed.
He confirmed that a new series of the Whitehall satire is in the works via Twitter.
‘In answer to all those who've been asking, a new series of The Thick Of It is commissioned,’ he said. ‘Work begins on scripts next month.’
The new eight-part series will be the first under the coalition government, and is likely to reflect the new political landscape.
Rebecca Front’s inept Minister Nicola Murray and political appointees such as Chris Addison’s snide Ollie Reader or even Peter Capaldi’s vicious spin-doctor Malcolm Tucker would be relegated to the sidelines if a new party took over the fictional government.
Iannucci is also currently working on an American version of the show, called Veep, about a female vice-president to be played by Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Veep completed a six-day shoot in Baltimore earlier this month. The mammoth shoot involved 200 extras and 500 crew.
