• James Corden got smacked in the eye when hosting the Brits – by a stray firework. He said: ‘I felt this hot thing smack me in the eye. It was a firework from the flares Take That’s dancers were using. It hurt.’

• Bill Cosby says he could literally die laughing. The 73-year-old has a lung condition, and says to much fun could be fatal. ‘If I laugh hard, that is very, very dangerous,’ he said. ‘My lungs fill up with fluid and I start coughing. Also my stomach muscles burn.’

• How the march of technology is benefiting the human race No 389: Comedian Patton Oswalt is to become the first person to smoke pot on film – in 3D. He is to play a ‘weed-selling Santa Claus’ in this years A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas, and has been boasting online of his record ‘first 3D exhalation of pot smoke’

• Hugh Dennis’s earliest memory is of Winston Churchill's funeral in 1965, when the RAF did a flypast over his father’s vicarage on the Isle of Dogs.

• Sam Kinison fathered a secret daughter, one of his friends has claimed. Fellow American comic Carl La Bove says he has DNA proof that Kinison slept with his now ex-wife 21 years ago, producing a girl. If a court accepts the evidence, it would help 52-year-old La Bove with child support payments he agreed to pay as part of his divorce from the girl’s mother – as he is now $188,000 behind in maintenance. La Bove used to open for Kinison and was with him when he died in a car accident in California in 1992. They both lived a wild life on the road. Kinison’s brother Bill says the girl ‘looks like she'd be Sam's daughter,’ adding: ‘Sam and Carl lived a lifestyle that was pretty promiscuous.’
