PhoneShop extends its contract

New series for E4

E4 has ordered a second series of the sitcom PhoneShop.

The comedy has proved a ratings success for the channel, winning an average of 739,000 viewers across the six episodes in series one.

A pilot was originally broadcast as one of Channel 4’s Comedy Showcases last year, but E4 commissioned he full series even before the pilot was broadcast.

Ricky Gervais was script editor on the show, which is is written, directed and produced by Phil Bowker, the comedy editor of independent production house Talkback Thames.

The new series will air next year.
