Russell Peters works on US sitcom

NBC show in development

Stand-up Russell Peters is working on a new sitcom for America’s NBC network based on his family life.

Although he is one of the most successful live stand-ups on the planet, selling out two nights at London’s O2 earlier this year, his TV exposure has so far been limited.

Now he is working with Cheers writer Rob Long on developing the half-hour sitcom, Hollywood trade paper Variety reports.

Peters, who was raised in Canada to Indian immigrants, was married earlier this year and is expecting his first child soon.
