Good showing for Coogan & Brydon

Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon’s new comedy The Trip proved a big draw on BBC Two last night.

The show attracted 2.1million viewers to BBC Two, up more than 50 per cent on the slot average, according to ,overnight Barb figures supplied by Attentional.

In the six-part series sees the duo – playing heightened versions of the themselves – go on a road trip to review restaurants for a Sunday newspaper.

Meanwhile, the figures also revealed a strong showing for BBC One’s Ask Rhod Gilbert.

The show, at 10.30pm, won 2.2million viewers in England alone – as it is not aired in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland – representing 16.4 per cent of the total audience at the time,.

It was the most-watched show at the time. In comparison, Chris Moyles’ Quiz Night on Channel 4, which featured Michael McIntyre as a guest, was seen by 1.44million, with another 218,000 watching on C4+1.
