Graham Crowden dies at 87

Star of Waiting For God waits no more

Actor Graham Crowden, star of the retirement-home sitcom Waiting for God, has died at the age of 87.

The Edinburgh-born actor also appaered in the classic 1986 comedy A Very Peculiar Practice, about doctors on a university campus.

And in 1974, he turned down the chance to play Doctor Who, and Tom Baker was cast instead

Crowden's agent Sue Grantley said: ‘We will all miss him enormously,’

More recently, he starred in the Radio 4 sci-fi comedy Nebulous as Sir Ronald Rolands.

He is survived by Phyllida, his wife of 58 years, and four children.
