Pete versus Life, round 2

Channel 4 commissions second series

Channel 4 has commissioned a second series of Pete Versus Life, the comedy starring Rafe Spall as a struggling young sports journalist.

The show – which features commentators discussing the central character’s personal life – attracted an average of 1.6million viewers when it aired this summer.

The next series, written by Bert Tyler-Moore and George Jeffrie and made by Peep Show producers Objective Productions, will air next year.

Channel 4’s comedy commissioning Editor, Nerys Evans said: ‘We are so thrilled to have Pete Versus Life returning next year, especially after such a confident and acclaimed first series.

‘Rafe Spall is an outstanding comedy performer with proper funny bones, he brings Bert and George's fantastic scripts alive absolutely brilliantly.’

Executive producer Phil Clarke added: ‘I hope that we can build on the success of the first series.’
