Ben Elton returns to TV stand-up

First show in a decade

Ben Elton and Johnny Vegas are to perform stand-up in their home towns for a new series for Dave.

The series, Dave’s One Night Stand, will invite the comics – and others yet to be named – to show viewers around the area, before performing a gig in the evening.

Filming will begin next month, with Jason Byrne and Tom Stade also taking supporting roles in the five one-hour shows.

It will be only Elton's second TV stand-up appearance since 1998's Ben Elton Show, the other being the Saturday Live revival in 2007

The series

The Ben Elton Head of Dave, Steve North said: ‘It’s our  first foray into stand up comedy and to launch with Ben Elton, who hasn’t performed televised stand up in ten years, together with Johnny Vegas and Jason Byrne really confirms Dave as the home of witty banter.’

UKTV’s Jane Rogerson, who commissioned the series, added: ‘In the crowded world of stand-up comedy I am delighted that we are working with Phil McIntrye Television and Amigo Television to bring an innovative and exciting comedy format filled with top-name comedians who are guaranteed to brighten up the autumn nights.’
