Tank Commander rolls into Australia

Scottish series sold down under

Scottish comedy series Gary: Tank Commander has been sold to Australian TV – before it has even been shown south of the border.

The sitcom, starring Greg McHugh as a corporal deployed in Iraq, originally aired on BBC Two Scotland last year, where it proved such a success it was repeated on BBC One – yet it has never been broadcast in England.

But now public service broadcaster ABC2 has snapped up the rights to air the series down under, where it will begin next month.

McHugh told the Daily Record: ‘Having grown up watching Neighbours and Home And Away, I can only hope that Gary has the same impact on the viewers in Oz.’

The second series is now being filmed in Glasgow.
