Viva buys US sitcom

Satellite channel Viva has brought the rights to American sitcom Community.

The series, set in a community college, stars Chevy Chase as an aging tycoon, and Joel McHale as a fast-talking lawyer forced to go back to class after his degree has been revoked. Britain’s John Oliver has a recurring role as psychology professor Ian Duncan.

The first series has already aired on NBC, attracting an average of 5million viewers per episode, with a second series due to start in the States next month.

It will launch on Viva on October 6.
