Fiver gets animated

Broadcaster snaps up US comedies

Cable channel Fiver has brought the rights to screen two new American animated comedies: Ugly Americans and Archer.

Simpsons writer David Stern created Ugly Americans, about a world where creatures from horror, fantasy, and science fiction live among us as ordinary citizens.

The plots revolve around Mark Lilly, a human social worker for the Department of Immigration, helps new citizens, both human and fantastic, adapt to life in the Big Apple.

The 14-part series, which airs on Comedy Central in the States, will air on Fiver from later this month, alongside the new third series of David Duchnovny’s Californication

The broadcaster has also brought the 13-part adult animated series Archer, set among the bitchy, backstabbing employees of a spy agency. The series features the voice of comedian H. Jon Benjamin as suave master spy Sterling Archer.
