Lawrence lands R4 show

'Not Like Everyone Else' series

His often viciously unpleasant stage act might not immediately fit the refined image of Radio 4 – but Andrew Lawrence has landed his own series there.

The acclaimed comic, known for his dark misanthropic tone, is to record the first episode of What To Do If You're Not Like Everyone Else at South London’s Up The Creek comedy club next month next month.

In it, he promises to investigate questions such as: Why must we work? Do I look alright? and Should we just steal what we want?

Lawrence began comedy in 2002, making the finals of both So You Think You’re Funny? and the BBC New Act of the Year Competition, which he won. His 2006 Edinburgh show was nominated for the if.comedy best newcomer title, and his 2007 follow-up nominated for the main award. He was also nominated for best headliner in this year’s Chortle Awards.
