Armando Iannucci: Rockumentary maker?

Courtney Love has plans...

Courtney Love wants Armando Iannucci to direct a film about her relationship with Kurt Cobain.

She said she was planning a ‘big A-list movie’ based on Charles Cross’s biography Heavier Than Heaven that she said was sure to win Oscars

Speaking to ClashMusic, Love said that the producer would be Eric Fellner, who made Hot Fuzz and Mr Bean’s Holiday.

When asked who was directing, she said: ‘Well, I watched The Boat That Rockedand I know that it got slated but I really liked it, and Eric is pushing for Richard Curtis.

‘But you know who I’m into? The Thick Of It guy… Armando Iannucci. This is a big A-list movie. This is when someone goes and gets an Oscar for it.’

Despite once hosting a Radio One show, Iannucci has not previously shown much interest in rock music – being more more of a classical buff, and earlier this month he wrote a newspaper article singing the praises of Gustav Mahler.

Iannucci, of course, helped create Alan Partridge with Steve Coogan – who had a well-publicised fling with Love.
