Gail Porter, comedian?

Presenter's bid to be a stand-up

Gail Porter is trying her hand at stand-up comedy.

The 38-year-old presenter recently posted a Twitter update saying that she had ‘been busy doing a bit of stand-up’.

However, she has not been officially listed on any comedy club night – and her agent said it was ‘something she has tried out twice so far’. She is said to have ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ the experience.

Porter has briefly dabbled in comedy before, having hosted Channel 4’s short-lived internet clip show dot.comedy with Chris Addison almost a decade ago.

But she is better known for presenting the likes of Top Of The Pops – and for being a lads’ mag star. In 1999, a nude photo of her was beamed onto the side of the Houses of Parliament as a publicity stunt for FHM.

The Edinburgh-born star lost her hair from stress-related alopecia in 2004, and became something of a spokeswoman for the condition, raising awareness of it.
