Kenneth Williams honoured

Blue plaque for Carry On star

A blue plaque has been unveiled at the site of the London barber shop where Kenneth Williams one.

The comic moved into the flat above his father’s shop in Marchmont Street, Bloomsbury, in 1935, when he was nine, and lived there for 21 years.

Leslie Phillips, Bill Pertwee and Nicholas Parsons today unveiled the plaque, put up by Comic Heritage.

Williams died aged 62 in 1988, at his flat in nearby Osnaburgh Street.
