Bringing Glee to E4

Deal over US import

E4 has brought the British rights to Glee, the musical comedy series from Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy.

The 22 hour-long episodes, which airs on Fox in the State this spring, follows an optimistic high school teacher as he attempts to inspire a group of oddball teenagers in to create a high school musical.

Gill Hay, Channel 4’s head of acquisitions said: ‘The buzz around Glee has been almost as big as its musical numbers. This huge, glossy, all singing, all dancing musical comedy drama serie is the first of its kind on E4 and we are sure the E4 audience will be thoroughly entertained by its fun show-stopping exuberance.’

A pilot episode of the show was broadcast in the States in May, attracting 10million viewers, and the first season began airing on September 9.

Here is a teaser for the show, which will air on E4 in early 2010.
