Please Sir!'s Dennis dies

Denyer also starred in Agony and Dear John

Peter Denyer, who played the slow-witted pupil Dennis Dunstable in Sixties sitcom Please Sir!, has died at the age of 62, actors' newspaper The Stage has reported.

The ITV comedy, set in a South London comprehensive, ran for 57 episodes between 1968 and 1971.

Other comedy roles included playing one half of a gay couple in Agony, written by agony aunt Anna Raeburn and starring Maureen Lipman, and the geeky Ralph in the John Sullivan sitcom Dear John.

He later turned to producing and writing pantomimes.
