The new Beadle?

Spencer Brown lands hidden camera show

Stand-up Spencer Brown could be the next Jeremy Beadle – after landing a role presenting a new hidden camera show.

The comic – most recently seen on the much-maligned spots promoting mobile phone firm Three’s sponsorship of Channel 4 comedy – will be co-hosting Don’t Get Screwed on BBC Three.

Brown is one of three presenters who will pose as workers in businesses, shops and restaurants before giving people terrible service and attempting to rip them off.

The programme, which starts on October 26, aims to have a consumer angle, rather than simply winding up people for entertainment, by explaining how the victims should have handled the situation.

Brown will be hosting Don’t Get Screwed alongside relatively unknown actress Polly Parsons and cable TV presenter Carole Machin, and all three also get involved in the stunts.

The programme is being made by Objective Productions, who also produce the hidden camera shows The Real Hustle and Balls of Steel.
