Little Britain star to front chat show

More details have emerged about Matt Lucas’s first radio comedy since Little Britain.

As Chortle revealed last month, Lucas is to front a new Radio 2 show, And The Winner Is, later this year.

The corporation has now explained the format of the show, which bears a passing resemblance to Radio 4’s Museum Of Curiosity.

Each week, Lucas welcomes three funny guests on to the show to nominate anything for his awards, The Lucases, in any category, such as best, worst, funniest, ugliest and scariest.

He said: ‘I'm looking forward to recording the shows. Radio 2 give me a nice chair to sit on and a glass of water, so I'm very happy.’

Lucas will be re-united with his Little Britain radio producer, Ashley Blaker, to make And The Winner Is.

Radio 2 has also confirmed a new six-part series of The Jason Byrne show, starting on July 23.

Lewis Carnie, head of programmes for Radio 2 said: ‘Radio 2 has a rich history of comedy from both established and new stars and, with such a wonderfully talented bunch on the station, listeners will be in for a real treat.'
