Has America got the pop factor?
Peter Kay says he’s been asked to make an American version of his talent show spoof for Britain's Got the Pop Factor – but he isn’t bothered about making it big in the States.
The comic revealed the approach as he visited Los Angeles to pick up the Bafta/LA award for best British comedy TV programme.
He said: ‘They've asked me to make one over here, but we'll see. You know, I don't like being away from home. I miss my children and my wife too much.’
When asked if he thought he could crack America, Kay said: ‘No. I've no intention or inkling. I'm not Russell Brand.’
At the same ceremony, Tracy Ullman received the Charlie Chaplin Award for lifetime achievement in comedy.
She said: ‘I'm just thrilled. It's a nice achievement .
‘It's made me very retrospective thinking about what I've done and what I've achieved and I've come a bloody long way from my mum's window sill - the original Tracy Ullman show. I'd draw the curtains and my mum would sit in bed and I'd do a show on the window sill.’
Meanwhile, Mike Leigh's Happy-Go-Lucky won best British comedy film.
