Lenny's Othello heads to West End

Three-month run this autumn

Lenny Henry is to bring his acclaimed portrayal of Othello to London’s West End.

The comedian has garnered critical praise for his theatrical debut, which has enjoyed a sell-out regional tour since it opened at the West Yorkshire Playhouse earlier this year. The Daily Telegraph’s Charles Spencer called it ‘one of the most astonishing debuts in Shakespeare I have ever seen’.

Now the production will be staged at the Trafalgar Studios from September 11 to December 12.

Before taking the part, Henry admitted he was ‘terrified’ of tackling Shakespeare, but felt he needed to work on stage to improve his acting on screen.
