Roseanne plans sitcom return

New family comedy in the pipeline

Roseanne Barr is said to be planning a return to prime-time sitcom.

She has reunited with producer Caryn Mandabach – who worked on the hit Roseanne series –  to create a new family comedy in which she would again play the matriarch.

According to the Hollywood Reporter trade magazine, Arrested Development writer Jim Vallely has signed to work on the script.

The show has been pitched to the Fox network.

Barr, 56, has concentrated on stand-up since her hit sitcom ended its nine-year run in 1997.
