Kay invades the stage again

Impromptu appearance on Manford's tour

Peter Kay has gatecrashed another gig, making an impromptu cameo at the end of Jason Manford’s show in Manchester.

The Phoenix Nights star ran on stage during the Q&A part of Manford’s encore at The Lowry, Salford, to tell his friend to wrap up the show so they could go for a meal.

He said: ‘Come on mate, I’m dying for a curry… You wrap this up, I’m off to get the car ready, I’ll meet you in the car park round the back.’

Kay, who had been watching the show from the wings, also admitted to the 1,800-strong crowd that he wouldn’t be touring soon – as he had no new jokes.

‘I’ve been far too busy mincing round dressed as a woman to come up with any new material,’ he said in reference to his role as Geraldine in Britain’s Got The Pop Factor.

‘I came up with one new joke recently about naan bread, and it was about my Nan and bread. But it’s not very funny. That’s why I don’t do gigs any more.’

Kay has previously made more than half a dozen similar cameo appearances at gigs by Texas, Queen, Badly Drawn Boy, Billy Joel, the Doves, the Kaiser Chiefs and theatre show Mrs Brown's Last Wedding.
