Gervais says no more Extras

... despite pleas of Hollywood A-listers

Ricky Gervais has said he will never bring back Extras, despite a catalogue of Hollywood stars clambering for roles.

The comic said Sylvester Stallone called his agent offering to be in a third series, and that Drew Barrymore, Susan Sarandon and Laurence Fishburne all approached him at the Golden Globes – but he turned them all down.

He told The Sun: ‘The people coming up and asking to be in Extras was just depressing. This will sound like name dropping, but it isn’t. I am a big fan of theirs.

‘It was amazing and I was thinking of storylines for them. It’s crazy the things we could do. But it was never about the A-listers we could get.’

Gervais said too much time had now passed to revive the series.
