Radio 2 show for Alan Carr?

Comic in talks with BBC

Alan Carr is in talks to have his own Radio 2 show – possibly taking over Russell Brand’s old slot.

Brand was paid £200,000 a year for his two-hour Saturday night programme, until he resigned in October over the calls he and Jonathan Ross made to Andrew Sachs.

The show regularly attracted 400,000 listeners, and BBC chiefs are said to want a comedian back in the same slot.

Carr – who shares the same agent as Ross – previously hosted a 2007 Christmas Day special for the station, as well as fronting stand-up shows from the Edinburgh Fringe that same year.
