From YouTube to the Apollo

First UK gig for ventriloquist Dunham

YouTube phenomenon Jeff Dunham is coming to the UK for a one-off comedy show at the Hammersmith Apollo.

The ventriloquist’s clip featuring his doll Achmed the Dead Terrorist has been seen by more than 80 million people around the world, making it the fifth most-watch YouTube clip ever.

This internet popularity has helped him sell more than 30,000 copies of his DVD in Britain alone, while the puppet’s catchphrase ‘Silence! I kill you!’ has also been made into a hugely popular ringtone.

Dunham will be re-releasing his Spark Of Insanity DVD on the back of his London show, which takes place at the 3,600-capacity venue on April 7.

He is currently playing even larger venues in the US, making him one of the top 50 touring artists, outselling the likes of Chris Rock, Madonna, Metallica, and Elton John.

Tickets go on sale from 9am Friday here.
